I couldn't agree more, although I can assure you that his attitude to Japanese people is exactly the same. I suppose that proves that he is not racist, at least, but he could certainly do with a lesson in customer service. Atariya management please note! That said, the fish is brilliant and almost worth the grumpiness.

We are keen admirers of Japanese food and culture and have been customers of the Finchley shop for many years especially for the fresh fish and sashimi. The service from most of the staff is normally very courteous. We visit the shop less than we used to because of the poor customer service at the sashimi counter especially for customers who do not speak Japanese. The middle aged chef at the counter never smiles and is sometimes rude when you request special cuts of fish such as the fatty tuna. We get so fed up that we buy from the Waitrose fish counter often now rather than put up with poor attitude of this gentleman.
